Free Norwegian course

Welcome Hub Haugalandet, in collaboration with Tirna, is now offering a free Norwegian language course for participants at A2 level, held in person at Tirna’s offices in Haugesund.

Registation is now closed.

Course period and schedule

  • Period: May 18 – November 9, 2026
  • Time: Mondays, 17:00–21:00
  • Location: Tirna, Haraldsgata 190, 5525 Haugesund

About the course

This Norwegian course is designed for learners who are above 18 years, are at A2 level and and are not entitled to other Norwegian language training.

At A2 level, you:

  • Understand and read short, simple texts
  • Can talk briefly about yourself and familiar topics
  • Use basic sentences in everyday communication
  • Need a supportive conversation partner who speaks slowly and clearly
  • May still make grammatical mistakes and have a limited vocabulary

Teaching method

The course is based on a Flipped Classroom model.

Participants will complete short digital learning modules before each class. This is expected to take a minimum of one hour per week.

The digital preparation covers the same topics that will be explored in class. This allows classroom time to focus on:

  • Questions and clarification
  • Teacher guidance
  • Group work and communication practice

Digital learning platform

The digital modules are available on the learning platform Acampus. Each module includes texts, interactive exercises, audio tasks, and more.

Participants should have basic digital skills to use a PC, tablet, or smartphone. The setup is low-threshold and easy to follow.

A laptop is recommended but not required. At minimum, participants must have access to a smartphone or tablet.

Before the course starts, registered participants will receive a self-declaration form about previous Norwegian test results (if any). This helps ensure that participants are placed at the correct level.

On the first day of the course, there will also be a level assessment. Participants who are significantly below or above A2 level may be deregistered.

The course is funded by IMDi (Directorate of Integration and Diversity).
